The brightest ideas for the city of the future

For the first time in history, more people are living in cities than in the country. All around the globe, experts are looking for concepts for the "city of the future". German cities also face major challenges brought on by changes in urban living conditions. We must start developing solutions for the city of tomorrow today. The Bilfinger Berger Award supports this process. It recognizes outstanding concepts and projects that are making history in other countries and which could give German cities a new impetus for the future.

How your project can win
Solutions that have been successfully implemented outside Germany have a chance at the Bilfinger Berger Award. Conditions for your participation: your project takes up issues concerned with "the city of tomorrow between social reality and creative vision" and provides impulses for Germany.
Those who choose the winner
A jury of experts under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer and in cooperation with the Prognos Institute will evaluate the submissions. In May 2009 a decision will be made on which project will receive the "Bilfinger Berger Award 2009".
What makes a winner
In cooperation with the Prognos AG research institute, a jury with representatives from science, media, politics and business will evaluate the submissions according to the following criteria.
Award winner 2007: London‘s Idea Stores
As "department stores for ideas", Idea Stores help troubled areas in London become more attractive: With her study of the flagship of the culture-led regeneration in the United Kingdom in the 1990's, Cordelia Polinna, an urban planner from Berlin, became the first winner of the Bilfinger Berger Award in 2007.
